Vacancy: Developer

We are looking for somebody with a MSc, PhD or equivalent experience, (bio)medical physics or (bio)medical engineering, for a full time position (1fte) to work on a new project to develop a monitoring system for preclinical radiation & imaging research platforms.

What are we looking for

We are looking for a dynamic co-worker. Ideally, you have knowledge of optical camera systems including UV and IR for preclinical use. You must have excellent programming skills and experience with data processing and equipment control. You should be excited about working in a young R&D company, in close collaboration with the academic world and other biomedical companies. You should be able to take responsibility for tasks. You should be willing to relocate to the region around Maastricht, close to Germany and Belgium. Knowledge of the Dutch language is not a requirement. You should be fluent in English (written and spoken). EU applicants will be given priority.graduate with a MSc degree in physics, engineering in physics, biomedical physics, or computer sciences.

Which project do we offer

We will soon start a new project, PEPTOR (Peptide-Enhanced Pharmacotherapy for Targeted anabolism and Optimal muscle Retention), co-funded by the EU EUROSTARS program, where we will develop a preclinical monitoring system to be used during and after radiation. For this, we have access to multiple advanced animal irradiation systems, integrated with CT and bioluminescence imaging. For the project we want to add one or more optical/UV/IR cameras to these systems to monitor the vital signs of the animals (breathing rate, temperature, …). An attachment system will need to be designed. The project will develop software to automatically and rapidly analyze the camera images, or from information from other sensing techniques, which may also require the use of artificial intelligence methods, to some extent. In particular, we will monitor tumor-bearing mice who undergo trials of radiotherapy, chemotherapy and a novel revolutionary medicine to counteract loss of muscle during the therapy. You will operate within an international team that consists of our company, a team of nutrition and biochemistry specialists at the University Maastricht, a team of physiology experts at the University of Copenhagen, and Danish pharmaceutical company (Pephexia; developer of the novel medicine and overall PEPTOR project leader). Willingness to work in such an international collaboration is important.

Who are we

We are an expanding Dutch company founded in 2015 in the field of biomedical research&development, specialized in radiation dose calculations and imaging. In the field of precision image-guided irradiation for preclinical studies we are a world leader. We focus on developing tools for preclinical research. Our company is based on the Maastricht Brightlands Campus, and we work in collaboration with Maastricht University in Maastricht, the Netherlands.

What do we offer

We offer initially a 12 month contract, with a potential extension for another year or permanent position afterwards. The project should start in December 2025.
